...because you told us all, on another board (remember?) :)

Speaking of which, FutureShop's got a nice Sandisk 1G for $50. Not expandable
and doesn't do colour video though...

I mentioned that I got an MP3 player for Christmas on the Hamsexy Forums but I don't think I mentioned the kids getting one.

Actually my oldest daughter got the 2GB Sandisk with colour screen and it is pretty slick, mine is just a tiny phillips which is perect for me to leave in my pocket with the FM modulator so I can listen to it on customers radios while I do installs. :)

And with that, I present this...............

I was remarking to a friend the other day that I remember when the first iPods came out and they were hideously expensive...more than the top of the line iPod video now and they were what, 512MB and 1 GB with a crappy battery that tanked after 6 months...

Now you can go to the corner store and buy an MP3 player that works as well, if not better, than the first iPod for $30. Ain't technology grand?

Now, back on topic...I hear that *agency* in *town/city* might be going encrypted. Oh, woe is me. In two months all we'll be able to listen to is taxis and the dog catcher. I blame you, Fantino...etc etc etc.

Yeah I was at the Comprod training in Toronto last month and the MA/COM tech was talking of upgrades to Waterloo's system and them going digital also. I guess I will believe it when I see it, but he had no real reason to lie to me considering he brought it up.

Your probably right but I don't really see that happening for the regular talkgroups, WRP is pretty public and media friendly and I don't really see the need for it. I could be wrong though.

Yes it is possible, it involves running the audio from your scanner through the line in on your soundcard and listening on your computer speakers. Try searching the web for programs called Invert and Voice descramber.

Since I guess it is legal to decode Speech inversion in Canada If anyone looks at purchasing Commercial gear they come built in in most Icom and Kenwood radios now.

Possibly older...

To answer one questions, Yuipteru and Alinco scanners with the voice inversion features have worked with varying degrees of success for me but software has always been more reliable in my opinion.

It's amazing that some people have no problem resurrecting dead, irrelevant threads... although that great post from millsdog asking how to load invert.exe onto his scanner made me chuckle once again.
