It just sounds like the way the cables are hooked up are causing a ground isolation problem.

For a really really easy and basic way to deal with this simply do the following:

Get two mono 1/8 inch phone plugs and a length of 2 conductor audio cable (whatever you need).

Solder the center conductor of one end of the cable to the center pin of one of the phone plugs. Leave the shield of that end of the cable floating free - DO NOT solder it to the shield of the phone plug at that end!!! If possible, try and solder a short wire to the cable shield and attach it to the 536's metal case using a convenient case screw. If you're really timid about unscrewing a case screw to use to attach a ground wire you might be able to omit this step and just leave the ground floating if the cable length is not very long. Otherwise, you should try to find some way to ground that side of the cable to the radio's chassis. This is the end that goes into the 536 external speaker jack. Again, make sure that ONLY the center pin of the phone plug is soldered to the center conductor of the cable while the cable shield is NOT CONNECTED to the shield of the phone plug but is connected to the metal case of the radio in some way (if at all possible).

On the OTHER end of the cable, solder the other phone plug normally - center pin to center conductor and shield to cable shield. This is the end that goes into your computer.

This will allow half of the BTL amp's audio output to drive the computer audio input in common single ended mode without shorting the BTL output (there is PLENTY of signal level in half of the BTL audio output so don't worry about that!!).

For more detail on this and for more versatile connection ideas see this thread: http://forums.radioreference.com/un...er-connection-considerations-precautions.html.
