I've seen some pretty old NMO installations with no signs of leaking whatsoever. That being said, on my personal vehicles with NMO mounts, I keep a supply of O-rings/gaskets on hand. I remove the antenna and inspect the mounts every year or so and replace and parts that are deteriorating. Most of the time, components seem to be in pretty good condition.
