I need to do a reset on my SDS200 to clean up some items. Do I need to remove the Sim card before resetting?

That one place...
Heads up,
I think you may run into the clear user data error, after the reset.

Just use Sentinal to fix that.
I ran into that a few times in the past, lol

To keep from doing a reset, how can I take out the quick keys? I need to clean up this radio but don't want to screw up anything. Had this radio over two years and still haven't figured it out completely.

Use sentinel and read the scanner. Use sentinel to remove the quick keys you want to remove. Then write back to the scanner.

Op does not have premium subscriber status so I figured he might not have @ProScan, which is why I spoke of Sentinel.

But yes and very true, Proscan is by far, the best software available for many Uniden scanners.

I agree - a factory re-set in the SD variant of scanners doesn't exist like it did with the non-SD scanners.

Rather, I would carefully look at all of the Favorites Lists in Sentinel to see whether any of them can be deleted or modified. That said, I found out the hard way once you delete a Favorites List, it is gone forever. So you might consider creating or exporting a Favorites List to an HPE file before deleting the Favorites List. That is a way of recovering if worst come to worst.

I'm assuming by "removing a Quick Key", you are really wanting to remove the Favorites List that is associated with a Quick Key. Just clearing a Quick Key won't delete any data within the Favorites List.

I have done something wrong. I am not radio savvy. I was trying to get the radio to listen to CB channels as my drive to work is on interstate. Now the radio does not hear anything and I am not sure why. Can I reset to how it came out of the box?

Is it an SDS100/200 or different model? How did you program it, manually or with software?

What does it show on the screen now, is it showing it scanning or nothing to scan?

If SDS type is Service Type "Other" turned on?

Keep in mind, the Citizen's Band (CB) system is in the RR database on the SDS scanners, under National Systems, and requires no self-programming.

That said, amongst other things:
Check if the database and favourites lists are there. (Concern for SD card.)
Check for weather channels from the main menu. If you can receive anything, then the antenna and/or antenna connector isn't broken.

and do you know if there really is any CB radio traffic ?
it hit a peak and has been going down.
my step-son drove a big rig about 5 years ago and they used cell service.

CB traffic? Yes. I get some DX on 3-5 channels, whenever there's no solar blackouts. Was listening to some convos in Sacramento and Iowa, just a couple weeks ago. (I'm in Eureka, CA.)

In Sentinel you go to Edit/Profile and then to the tab for Quick Key Status. Un-tick all boxes except one, or you will get NothingTo Scan error, and write to scanner.

If you are unsure if Sentinel are actually configured the same way as the scanner, then first read the scanner and you get all current settings.

If you haven't done any specific programming, it doesn't sound like you have, then go to Scanner/Clear User Data and download the latest database. Then go thru the database and select Append to Favorite List, choose a new name, for the things you want to monitor.

Then go to Edit/Profile and mark that favorite list, or if you have made several, for both Download and to be Monitored. It's easier to select what to scan directly on the scanner if you divide up objects in many smaller favorite lists.

In Scanner/ Write To Scanner you tick the box Erase Favorite List On Scanner to start with a clean slate.

Doing any kind of reset is a "nuclear option". You might look in the manual for "Nothing to Scan" checklist. It will give you a number of ideas for things to check.

It may be something very small - usually is. Doing a complete reset means you have to re-load a lot of things, so that's why I consider it a last resort action.

Once you figure out the issue, I would use Sentinel to create a Favorites List for only CB channels, which you can get from full database. Giving that FL a Favorites List Quick Key would give you a simple means for turning on/off.
