When I download my favorites lists to my scanners (100/200) from Sentinel and fire up the scanner, some of the FLs are enabled and others are not. I would like to control which FL is enabled. How do I do that?
I've tried looking at the profile with no success. Turning off 'monitor' on a FL doesn't allow the FL to be enabled on the scanner.
Setting 'avoid' on a FL does the same thing (can't enable the FL)
What am I missing?
My goal is to download to the scanner and have one FL enabled.

Thanks

That's not correct. You set your profile for the lists that you want to be loaded onto your scanners memory card by setting the Download column to On.

The list (or lists) that you want to start using immediately after the download should be set to On in the Monitor column. Those lists that you want to be available on the scanner, but not currently in use, should be set as Off in the Monitor column.

For lists on the scanner, you can change which are being utilized via the menu.
Press the Menu key
Select the Enter key (E yes) to access the Set Scan Selection screen.

On the next screen, scroll down & select Select Lists to Monitor

That gets you to a screen where you can toggle the main database, as well as individual Favorites lists, On or Off via the Enter key.

As tvengr has also noted, you can also toggle lists on or off using Quick Keys.

Thanks for the replies.
Yes, I know I can use the monitor list on the scanner itself, I'm trying to figure out how to pre-select them in Sentinel.
I'm looking for the equivalent of 'Select lists to Monitor' in Sentinel.

I've always been one to go a different route, it seems.

The way I do it is assign Quick Keys to Favorites Lists. Then I will edit the applicable Profile, go to Quick Keys Status and turn on those Favorites List Quick Keys I want to monitor and turn off those I do not. If during the scanning process I want to listen to something that is off, I simply turn the appropriate FLQK on. When I'm done listening to "that one" I turn it off.

The downside is you have to remember which Favorites List Quick Key goes to which Favorites List. Cheat sheets on my iPhone help.

In Sentinel, select “EDIT”, then “EDIT PROFILE”, then highlight the favorite lists you want to monitor and click “MONITOR ON”.

… or “MONITOR OFF” as the case may be. You can do the same with “DOWNLOAD ON/OFF”.

We have similar methods to this. I think what the OP is asking is when he turns the scanner on, he only wants to have a certain favorite list(s) on. To do that: In Sentinel..Edit..Edit Profile...Quick Key Status...you can check the ones you want on or off..Save..Write to Scanner.

I would discourage the "Download on/off" method. Favorite Lists set to Download Off, are NOT written to the scanner. Thus they are not there for you to turn on, even if you want to listen to them quite badly. You would have to connect the scanner and computer, change the status then write to the scanner.

I've been making a bunch of changes to my favorite lists recently, so I've downloaded my FL's numerous times. Each time I download and start up the scanner, I have to go through and deselect a whole bunch of FL's that I don't want to listen to right now. It would be so nice if I could somehow specify that I want all of my FL's downloaded, but only enable a specific one to start with.

Turning off MONITOR for a FL in Sentinel leads to it being disabled and you can't use its quick key to turn it on (you have to go into the 'Scan Selection' menu to turn it on).

It seems like for each FL there is a MONITOR on/off state (selected in the 'Select Lists to Monitor' menu or by Monitor on/off in Sentinel. Turning MONITOR off on a FL prevents it from being turned on by a quick key. There is additionally a 'Quick Key Enabled' state (I'm inventing a name here, because I'm not sure what it should be) that shows up in the numbers/stars diagram at the top-left of the display. Hit the quick key and you see a digit on the little diagram. Hit it again, and you see a '*'.

What I'm looking for is a method to download all of my FL's in the 'Quick Key disabled' state except for the one(s) I regularly listen to. Download to the radio and start listening without wading through the menu system.

In Sentinel, go to the Edit tab, Edit Profile, and Quick Keys Status tab. Enable only the favorites list quick keys you want enabled when you Write to Scanner.

...or as I & others have previously suggested, assign quick keys, disable the quick keys you don't want to monitor then choose Scanner > Read from Scanner so the change can be recognized by Sentinel

Here is a screen shot of where you would set the Favorite List Quick Key default status. It is in the Edit Profile. Checked means the FLQK is on, unchecked means it is off until you turn it on.QuickKeys.jpg

Thank you so much! That did it!

I've read the documentation on Sentinel multiple times and watched some of the videos online and never picked up on how these are used.

For others: This tab allows you to select which Quick Keys (Favorite lists) to be selected when you download to the scanner. Quick keys that are not selected can be selected manually on the scanner once the download is complete.

Wow, I always wondered what that tab was for. Now I know.

I really appreciate the helpful knowledge on this forum!

Take this concept and go one step further and you can also set which Systems/departments are active by using the System and Department Quick Keys in the Favorites list editor.

If you hover to the right of the numbers in the empty space, right click and you can turn all off or on. When you hover over the number, it will tell you which Favorite List(s) are assigned. This gives you an opportunity to cross check your programming to make sure you didn't duplicate any favorite lists.

Nice. Now I don't have to manually click on 98 checkboxes!
