My info came straight from the 911 director when we inquired about IDs for cross programming. We've been adding these to our new codeplugs. That is what she told our division chief. If I'm wrong, we were misinformed.Interesting you noted they were all "Strapped for Encryption", yet the gentleman above can hear them.
Not saying they won't go Enc, just pointing out, they apparently weren't "strapped" before deployment.
We're currently engaged in mass reprogramming. Every one of our radios has Fayette IDs assigned but not active in the codeplugs with placeholders as we haven't heard back from them on encryption key loading, etc. Obviously our south side agencies want their stuff for I/O, but they are in the midst of a turnup. I know how that is and am not going to bother them during this period. I am sure they will put something out to mutual aid partners in the future and we will go from there.
They did purchase AES-256. If they choose not to utilize it, that is their decision. I have no dog in their fight.
