Also, are they done putting tower sites up? From the site map I see, I'd hate to be in Brooks and need to talk via portable

If you take another look at what was posted (and what you quoted) each list is clearly marked as "Talk Group ID's" and "Unit ID's". Not trying to be difficult, but I'm not sure how to state it any clearer.

Joe

Ok, which are "Unit ID's" and which are "Talkgroups"? You keep stating "ID's"

Not sure, I'll ask the 911 director in casual conversation next time I see her. One of the major reasons for the new system was to fill in those gaps, like Brooks. Here's a link to the meeting minutes of the Communications Board, which oversees all 911 communications in this county. There may be meeting notes about the progress:

It has to be miles above the legacy Smartnet system which was on life support. Having been the guy who helped send 192C (our old analog Smartnet) off into the sunset after 28 years of faithful service, the "last few months" were a battle keeping that hardware alive. Simulcast transmit is an art. Do it with 30 year old tech, and tantrum prone MSF5000 repeaters, and constant monthly mod-comps to keep from sounding like a trash can Ernie, it couldn't come soon enough.

Hi guys. I am also new to this and very happy to find this group. Lots of great information. I also have a BCD325P2 and uploaded the P25 system and it seems to be working great. I am near Fayetteville.

Joe

The Unit ID's are single numbers? "12, 8, 6" Not "100001" Or "300001", etc.?

That's what confused me

(Edited for clarity)

I wonder where all the minutes are from 2022?

Just saw that Sentinel software has been updated to the new Fayette P25 system, thank you to everyone who helped ID the new talk groups and provide the new Simulcast numbers.

Was checking different systems in the region today with my SDR, and discovered that the P25 band plan that is published in the DB is inaccurate. I have already submitted this correct one to the DB, but in the meantime, here it is, and some other useful info for those who may need/want it.

Also confirmed that the control channels and all other system information that is currently published in the DB is accurate.

System ID: 6DF (hex) NAC: 6DF (hex) RFSS: 01 Site: 01 LRA:01
Primary Control Channel: Rx: 853.975000 Tx: 808.975000
Secondary Control Channel: Rx: 853.462500 Tx: 808.462500
Secondary Control Channel: Rx: 853.750000 Tx: 808.750000
Secondary Control Channel:0-58 DOWNLINK:851375000 UPLINK:806375000
ID Table 1: FDMA BASE: 851.012500 Bandwidth: 12.500 Spacing: 6.250 Tx Offset: -45
ID Table 16: TDMA BASE: 851.012500 Bandwidth: 12.500 Spacing: 6.250 Tx Offset: -45

Any luck on this this post since the last update?
Fayette is not encrypted. I believe they have the ability but do not have it turned on. At least their dispatch channels aren't. I am using a BCD436hp and I am able to hear Sheriff, Fayetteville PD, PTC PD, County Fire, and PTC Fire dispatch channels. I don't pick up any tac channels though so I only hear chunks of what is happening. According to RR it looks like most dispatch channels are P25 Trunk while most tac channels are Conventional. I don't totally know what that means but I think the database from RR has something incorrect. I don't ever pick up anything that's listed under conventional. I've been changing settings in Sentinel trial and error style for days to see if I can figure anything out but no luck so far. Maybe the scanner gods will bless us and someone with a bigger brain than mine will update the RR database for Fayette soon.

Chris, scan back through this thread for the latest. Fayette County has totally converted to a P25 system since last fall. The database has been updated and is accurate. They have NOT turned on encryption yet, although that is part of the plan. I regularly scan using an SDS100 scanner and can pickup everything. They do simulcast a few dispatch channels on VHF as a backup. You won’t hear anything on the old conventional trucked system because it’s been replaced by the P25 system.

Yea of course I can't hear anything on the conventional system channels lol duhh. I misunderstood what I was looking at. I just scanned through the forum it makes a lot more sense now. Good to know that the database is indeed accurate. Looks like you guys put in some hard work! It will be a tragic day when they turn on full encryption. There's nothing better than sitting on my back porch, having a beer, and listening in to what the distant sirens are heading to. SO got in a heck of a chase last night.

Not debating you, but do you have an accurate source for this?

@RRR , @ki4ask and myself both know the 911 director personally. She stated to both of us in November of '22 at an event that the plan is to keep encryption off until all the bugs are worked out and then turn it on. Unless something has changed that I am not aware of, that is the plan. And if you were wondering, the encryption will be AES256 strapped to the channels to not have the ability to go unencrypted accidentally. There will be however, clear and possibly encrypted interop channels for mutual aid as well. I know @MTS2000des would certainly know more about the interop agreements than I do.

We are still holding off on putting Fayette in our subscribers until we get word on the fleet map. We have IGAs and have provided blocks of IDs but so far no activation requests in either direction.

It's safe to say as AES-256 was paid for, they'll eventually use it. It is not a "free" or "penny" option on the Viking radios anymore than it is with MSI products. So, enjoy listening to a new radio system come to life while you can, and unofficial advice: keep what you hear on the system to yourself and don't post it here, on social media, or babble off to friends. Just sayin.

what's interesting about Fayette is that they've never been live streamed or had one of those FB groups as far as I know
