Brooklyn is operating on the FD's "Citywide 2," as they have done in the past for upgrades and maintenance. They gave no timeline of when they were going to switch back.

"From the period of 3/4/24 to 3/8/24 The Brooklyn radio frequency will be upgraded with an equipment change, with the rest of the boroughs' frequencies being changed over in the weeks to follow. During this time communications will be conducted on Citywide 2."

So just routine maintenance like usual. Nothing about going E I assume

Is Brooklyn 482.01875 presently single site TX or simulcast?

The various licenses indicate simulcast is possible.

Didn't the FD have a problem not too long ago, something to do with atmospheric problems, and told everyone to switch to the Trunked system if they couldn't get through on the analogue system?

Maybe this "new equipment" is to correct that problem.

Ran autopilot on Brooklyn for today. 20 Morse ID’s only. 30 percent with a single site sound, 70 percent with Simulcast sound to my ear. The 70% timing variable heterodyne mixed with various degrees of multipath.

DTV 16 TV season will be full on once again May 1. RF16 482-488MHZ really rolls in from both MD (320 kW @ 505 MSL) and Virginia (244 kW @ 1230 MSL) . Now in its 5th year.

The FDNY 48x MHz frequencies have been simulcast for quite some time, if that's what you're trying to figure out.

Not trying to be that guy but I love how the backup VHF dispatch sounds. So smooth and clear and LOUD. Monitoring them it appears they go out of service at times.
