Tonight with monitoring Bronx / Staten Island FDNY I heard them say switch to the Staten Island Frequency. Can anyone tell me if there is a separate freq for FDNY Staten Island Boro or is it still shared with the Bronx.

Thank You in advance.

SI and Bronx still are on the same frequency.

It would help if I knew which unit was transmitting that message but I'm going to guess that it was a Brooklyn unit relocating to SI for the all-hands on Amboy Rd and they should have said "switching" instead of "switch".

It is very rare that a Bronx unit would have to go to SI and vice-versa. In either case there's nothing to switch to.

Rescue 3 on Staten Island

I remember during the Staten Island Ferry crash Rescue 3 responded to Staten Island. During their response there was a lot of confusion because the Bronx had an all hands so Rescue 4 acting Rescue 3 was assigned. So every time the Bronx would call Rescue 4 acting Rescue 3, the original Rescue 3 would answer. Talk about confusing radio traffic lol

biggest & busiest FD in the world - you would think they would have secured another VHF freq over the years so SI & Da Bronx could have their own....

F. Raffa, are there many Vhf receivers for the "boro freqs"?

Tony - This is probably a long shot but I know that some of these fellas are hams and are quite technically savy and have set up there own linked repeater network on some of the ham bands. They have a new repeater in the works for SI and perhaps they were hams and moved over to their SI ham freq. They use a lot of commercial equipment and both commercial & ham freqs are in there portables & mobiles. Good bunch of fellas....
