Didn't see an open/relevant thread.

170.5875 (162.2). GMF shows VA Biloxi, Mobile and Pepsi-Cola. Getting it every morning, 5x5 with an open carrier, usually once or twice around 0700. Last night, same thing, but at 2100. Your thoughts?

my best assumption was going to suggest VA since most of my loggings for the freq are a majority of VA Hospitals
outside of a DEA user in P25 during an NSSE annual Jan/Feb event in 2015 (AZ)

Also a side note, I've found some of the listings from the GMF have been reversed from what is listed as the Repeater vs input

I'm at work in the Biloxi area and have a small scanner with 170.5875 programmed in on CTCSS 162.2 with an alert tone set to go off if there is any traffic, and for the first time since this thread was created I got two hits today about 2 PM 1/5/2024 the signal was full strength for me. No audio, it was just someone keying up a couple of times and reminded me of a repeater squelch tail. Based on my location and the oem antenna on the handheld scanner inside of a building I'd say chances were great that this came from the Biloxi VA.

170.5875 is the VA's Emergency Channel. They are dispatched out of Biloxi, with linked repeaters also at the VA hospitals in Mobile, Pensacola, Eglin and Panama City. Both P25(293) and 162.2 are used. same frequency and input at all locations.
It is also listed in the NTIA file that was posted here on RR a while back, the location and callsign are listed on it.

Didn't want to create a new topic and the Fed/Mil one is locked.

Since DeSoto National Forest has gone P25 (at least for the south region, the only one I regularly rx), has anyone noticed changes to other forests?

Looks like we BOTH got to the office early. I'll do some more Forest listening but it may not pick up until the weather turns warm again....Like Wednesday.

Anyone working the duct openings today/tonight? I was on the beach for it this morning and will probably head out again in a bit (current photo attached).
That would have been cool to log a DX contact on 2 meter simplex from here into Mexico. My furthest once was Near Houston to here on 146.520 using an ICOM IC-2AT with 2 watts into a ringo ranger at 25 foot.
