I am trying to re-confirm the US Govt Freqs that I discovered several years ago.
I found two, but they are not all that interesting. (operations)
406.875 Job Corps, Clearfield & Weber Basin
409.275 Postal Operations, SLC
I also plugged-in the Interoperability Channels listed in the manual below.
So far, no interagency or simplex usage.

I want to call your attention to these websites:

406.875 is not the frequency for the Job Corps; it is the IRS Security guards frequency. This can be confirmed by listening to the radio checks on the frequency. All of the buildings mentioned, i.e. ARKA, Scowcroft, Twin Rivers, etc. are IRS facilities. The FCC database has the Clearfield Job Corps frequency listed as 152.885.

I can also confirm that 409.275 is the frequency for USPS operations in Salt Lake. When I first got involved in the scanning hobby in the early 1990's, I also worked for USPS as a "casual" for several months. The radios used on site by the managers and supervisors sparked my curiosity as to what frequency the radios operated on, so of course a search of the federal bands was in order. I also discovered that the USPS Postal Inspectors operated on 414.750 at the time, but it's been several years since I heard any activity on that frequency. My guess is that all but a few federal agencies left the VHF/UHF federal bands for cell phones, Nextel, or some type of digital communication mode many moons ago, at least in the Salt Lake metro area.

For what it's worth, the input for the 406.875 IRS Security frequency appears to be 414.700.

Well, I guess none of us is always correct, certainly I'm not.
I did hear on a 406 frequency, "Weber Basin and Clearfield Center"
I will have to recheck my listings and see what I can find.

I used to hear the Federal Protective Service checking IRS facilities.
but I don't really monitor them much unless I know there is going to be
a demonstration downtown.

Department Of Justice Integrated Wireless Network http://www.usdoj.gov/jmd/iwn/
The IWN is a collaborative effort by the Departments of Justice, Homeland Security, and the Treasury to provide a consolidated nationwide federal wireless communications service that replaces stovepipe stand alone component systems, and supports law enforcement, first responder, and homeland security requirements with integrated communications services (voice, data, and multimedia) in a wireless environment. The IWN will implement solutions to provide federal agency interoperability with appropriate links to state, local, and tribal public safety, and homeland security entities.

You might want to check out 409.9375 P25 for the new Postal Inspectors. We have seen a migration to this new frequency [Atleast East of the River aka Mississippi] :)
