SDS100/SDS200: Firmware issue?

As many have followed along here lately, my Uniden SDS100 running main: 1.23.07, sub 1.03.06 keeps dropping reception after a while, I just wonder if the issue for the reception is due to the current firmware, could rolling back the firmware to previous version possibly correct this issue?

This is the only move I've yet to make, and wonder if it could resolve this issue?

Not really looking forward to having to send to Uniden for their warranty repair, bad experience [as stated before] of them repeatedly not being able to track the status of the scanner repair.

Honestly considering just throwing this damn thing in the trash and being done with it, even though I love this scanner.

Running out of options and patience.

If your at the point of discarding, the scanner, then do a rollback and see if it makes a difference.

Or I could send you a postage paid box to me, and I would be happy to dispose of it properly for you.

So it's NOT the battery as you said in the below thread? And as I suspected it wouldn't be in the first place. ;)

HRO sent me a replacement battery, it worked one time without issue, now it’s back to acting up.

I won’t just trash it, I am just really frustrated with this whole thing after my dad got it for me as a Christmas present.

I honestly can't advise you if that would help or not, but might speculate we'd be seeing more complaints if it were firmware related. I'm running exactly the same release and haven't had any issues. FWIW? Can you clarify a little what "dropping reception" means? Is the unit giving any visual indications that it IS or ISN'T receiving (S-meter, etc?), physically shutting off, etc. Suddenly works again after power reset? Maybe hardware issue? Can't say. Not enough data. Hope you can get a handle on it.1000026995.jpg

I let it scan, then after a while I notice the scanner goes quiet, then I go to scan WX channels, and I have 2-3 towers in the area depending what the weather is doing.

So I turn it off, then turn it back on, it doesn’t have any issues until the battery dies

I noticed the local SIANET connect plus trunk system and a tower within 2 miles gives me a -30RSSI value, and the local P25 Ph1 system has -75 or so with a tower around 5 to 6 mile nearest tower simulcast

Have you tried to Attenuate the signal; you may be getting overloaded from the nearby site.
I would also try using it at another location and see if the problem persists.

I have walked around a 5 mile radius from my house, and it still has the same issue.

Any settings I should look at specifically that could be the culprit?

Can it be ran without the battery like the 436? If so, what happens if you run it for a while without the battery? Does it go quiet after a while?

Using wall power regardless of the battery being in the scanner avoids this issue, only happens on battery power, as stated before HRO sent me a replacement battery, and it still acts up. If I wanted to listen to a scanner on wall power all the time, I’d have gotten the SDS200.

That sounds like it is going to be a hardware issue. Needs to go in for repair unless you can get HRO to send you a replacement unit.

You're delaying the inevitable as it was mentioned before. Instead of banging your head off the wall, send it in. Most are seeing a 2 week turn around on repairs. If you can track down the receipt, it's probably under the 1 year warranty window.

I purchased it on 12/3/24.
I’m still working with HRO on the topic.
