So I got this used 4001 ( made, according to the board date, Dec 21, 2004, newer than I thought) and it worked when I plugged it in, transmitted and received ok. About a week later I plugged it in to play around with it but now there's no power. I'm 99% sure I didn't plug it in the wrong way because the plug only goes in one way. But that 1% says I could have done SOMETHING without realizing. On taking it apart I noticed a few components that are suspect, one is a 1000uF 25v electrolytic cap (in the back corner near the power plug) which is slightly bulged on top, not popped. Not sure if this was failing and finally failed but I'm going to replace it anyway.
Other parts which I need to ID (2 views of each pictured below) are the silvery oval shaped parts with brown goo on them (Capacitors?). The goo on those looks old, dry and crusty. I have the schematic but I'm not good at deciphering those. A parts diagram would suit me better because it shows each part in it's actual position.
I'm sure someone knows what these parts are called/values etc, or knows of an actual board layout I could refer to.
Cheers!
