still NOR for now anyways...the tower closest to marathon is named 8231h-0004 on 142.4400 and i also believe the terrace bay tower is 142.3200 (might be manitouwadge though)

8231 is supposed to be the System ID for Zone 4, and looks like you've found Site 4.

Well just subitted Zone 4 for the data base and the frequencies posted in this thread. Guess when the switch over starts there will be a little more input

Zone 4 is alive, to a certain degree, had the Thunder Bay Fleetnet Tower in the scanning queue today and picked up a transmission off the tower on ID 38192 (maybe incorrect on this one, was memorizing off the top of my head, but it was definitly a 38XXX number) sounded defintily like MNR chatter

Maybe the scanning gods will rescue me from the crappy NOR system and bring up Zone 4 tomorrow LOL, was great listening on the drive up to Tbay from T.O. thats for sure, i dont think my BCD396 showed any LESS then 5bars the whole drive up, always had crystal clear service, second i hit the NOR system it was garbage.

BTW, anyone remember the reason why on the NOR system i sometimes only hear dispatch (6 bars of service) but not the other end (the officer) i cant remember why, but its definitly annoying, going to do some work on the File tonight and see if i can get things rolling smoother

Good ol Thunder Bay, cold, nothing to do, and best of all, i filled up with gas at 94.6 before i left and now gas is 119.9 like for F&%$ sake, lol

you are probably right about it being MNR...in the beginning of the year there was a coop position offered for electrical/instrumentation students at con college...something about helping support the "new govt radio system" for the MNR fire crews....never did get the job

If it was 38192 that would be a MTO talk group as it is in other Zones.

I thought i heard them say something about trapping an animal, so i assumed it was MNR , i could be mistaken

It might have been. It could have been MTO talking about trapping a nuisance animal such as beavers or bears.

If it was analog, it was probably MTO.

MNR don't have any analog talkgroups on the other 3 Zones.

Looks like MTO has migrated to fleetnet in Zone 4. Has anyone heard the OPP on fleetnet in Zone 4

We were told Kenora CACC will go online Dec 3. Fleetnet training has been done all through the region as well.

There's a news item on the system that has the various CACC switchover dates in it.

8231h-0014 142.4400Mhz... i dont see it in the database but it is the only CC for Fleetnet that i am picking up from thunder bay..did they maybe swap freqs at some point since this differs from the frequency given for thunder bay at the beginning of this thread....i get CACC and MTO traffic on it constantly so it is active....

i think they changed sometime last week, 142.4400 is the one i used to have for the marathon area.

Hmmm, i wonder if that means they swapped more then just that one, have to take a drive down the 11/17 at some point and see whats what, half of those freq's may no longer be valid

Hello eveyone...

Just some friendly info if you didn't already know. Kenora OPP has been using the Fleetnet system since mid-January. Fort Frances area OPP from Atikokan to Rainy River goes live with the Fleetnet system on Monday, Feb. 11.

So, now I find myself needing to update scanners....any suggestions??

Metal_Carnage, what were you using for your primary control channel? There was none listed in the database for the TBay and Kenora areas.

Hey Bosco, it appears 142.4400 is the freq for the CC in Thunder Bay and as i stated in the other thread on Zone 4, on friday they were actively testing patching on the Thunder Bay CC, so this may mean that Tbay will be following suit very soon, thanks for the update on Kenora and Fort Frances area, i was unaware that anywhere in Zone 4 had gotten up and running for OPP, i knew Thunder Bay CACC was going, but didnt think OPP would be up anytime soon. I am using a BC396D at the moment, i have a BC796D as well but bought the 396D for portability while i am cruising around.

I think we can void the database as being correct for the time being, it seems they may have done some frequency swapping since the last time the database was updated, it needs to be updated now

Although I haven't bought a digital scanner yet I have a few questions. Is it possible to determine the control frequency for my area, even though there is not one listed in the database? I doubt that the 142.4400 frequency for TBay would be the same for the Fort Frances area.

Also, once you have the control frequency set in the scanner will it automatically begin to pick up talk groups in your area?? Sorry if these questions sound stupid, but I am relatively new to "digital" scanning technology.

Thanks for any help.....
