I just ordered some LMR400 cable for two new antennas. As buddrousa advised me, I should get a small flexible portion to connect to my radio, as the LMR400 is thick, and not very flexible - can anyone help in recommending that?

When I look for thinner, flexible, cable, I can't find any that is "compatible" with LMR400 - I'm not sure if 50ohm is good enough, or if I will get high loss, so I wanted to ask before ordering the wrong thing.

It will go: Antenna (N male) > Adapter (N female to UHF male) > LMR400 > ferrite core > LMR400 (BNC male) > small, flexible cable > scanner

So, I would need the small ,flexible cable to be a BNC female to SMA male (directly to scanner).

A short 1 foot jumper will not hurt you to go from the scanner to LMR400

Any 50ohm jumper will do then? Thank you.
Will the adapter give me significant losses? Until I can get some more cable that fits directly to the second antenna, all I have is an adapter (for a yagi, 20ft of cable).

I use a cable similar to the ones recommended above with my HTs. They have very little loss even on transmit and will not put stress on the antenna connection.

Many of the thin coax jumpers like the link above are very fragile and the cable twists inside the connector and eventually comes loose. I've made my own that last but the Chinese types are pretty low quality.
Thanks for the heads up, once I move and have some space I'd like to start making my own stuff - antennas, cables, etc.

You are not supposed to swing the radio by the 'thin coax jumper'.
