Just heard Florence Fire 541-549 dispatched and responding on Mesa Topaz C11. I know they recently upgraded one of their VHF channels to P25 not that I have been able to monitor it. I have often wondered if Florence would make the move being as Topaz has a site in Florence.

I don't know if this is just a "Link" to their existing VHF channel as C12 is the Rural Metro Link in Rio Verde and C13 is the Salt River Link, but when dispatched they are given C-Deck 11 as a radio channel. Hopefully more monitoring will provide some clues. On a side note, may have found another for Gilbert PD, TG 3145 is active with normal traffic as is Channel 1. No idea what channel this would be no mention of channel name.

Ok, I didn't hear that. Now I wonder if Florence PD is also on Topaz and possibly encrypted like Queen Creek?

With the prison, yes Florence will go ENC like Buckeye & Goodyear.
Florence PD can goto either to Pinal County or TOPAZ. Any new agencies coming on board anywhere are expected to be ENC. Unfortunately FBI amongst other federal agencies are putting pressure on local agencies to go ENC.

Rumor has it that 6 of 8 Florence PD dispatchers left. Florence Fire went to Mesa Fire Monday asking for help. Saturday Mesa started dispatching for Florence Fire. Pinal County Sheriff took over dispatching for Florence PD.

As I type this, I heard E541 dispatched to C11 for a fire. I switched to C11, I could hear the C1 dispatcher simulcasting. I didn't hear anything else until E541 stated the fire was out. I don't know if this is a patch to Florence's P25 VHF or if Florence got loaner radios for TOPAZ (or if they're on Mesa's MCTs).

Is Mesa & Pinal dispatching Florence Police on VHF? Or has VHF gone silent?

Rio Verde Fire also uses C11. C11 could be for outlying department? It's usually patched to their C Deck.. either 3 or 4.

I can still get Florence PD on VHF as of yesterday at least. Haven’t tried listening to them today yet.

Just recently heard the Gilbert PD dispatcher have units switch to "HOT 15" for a call. Could that be it? Surely encrypted. I was also monitoring Mesa/Gilbert fire when the dispatcher announced and welcome the Florence Fire Department into the TOPAZ system.

FYI:

Interesting. But note, that's not the same fire department being discussed above. South Florence Volunteer Fire Department was pieced together a couple of years ago to try to cover some of the unprotected area that lies between the geographic boundaries that Town of Florence Fire Department and Golder Ranch Fire District will automatically respond to. It looks like they are licensed for a repeater on 155.430, possibly DMR. FCC Callsign WROK226 (South Florence Volunteer Fire Department Inc.)

I know. The area has issues with recruiting and retention of qualified public safety personnel. paid or otherwise.

Are all agencies (Fire, Law, EMS) expected to be ENC? Or just Law?

Most likely just LE full enc. Fire will probably have 1 or 2 ENC talkgroups.
