If you've never worked an aeronautical mobile station before, I have worked W0LS once last Monday as he was flying over Oshkosh on 146.520. N9OB was the pilot then, and I worked him this evening at 7:20CDT as he was flying over Wausau. This time I was mobile near Appleton.

I don't know how regularily N9OB will be flying around the state, but if you want to work a unique station keep an ear to 146.520 and you just may catch him.

Huh. Sounds good, 'cept I never have 6.520 in my scan list...one shortcoming to Motorola is the small scan list.

I can usually catch one aeromobile ham on any Field Day or VHF contest on 146.55. During the Sept. ARRL VHF contest I hooked up with a guy flying over the east shore of Lake Michigan while I was parked on the west shore just south of Milwaukee. He was running 250 mw at 4,000 ft and was almost full quieting. I had 100w and 5/8 wave and he heard me on his 1/4 wave whip no problem.
