Some are predefined settings, others are coding implementations.

When you become a software developer of a large software project, where dependencies, fixes, patches, release cycles, development, test, Q&A, and production environments are terms and things that mean something to you, oh yea, did I mention dependeices? Ah. did... anyway... when those become important item for you... let's chat..

Until then.. live with it... or be patient grasshoppa...

Thanks Dubbin,

-Lb

Ahhhhhhh the dependencies. I've been up many late nights because of those silly dependencies.

Many don't realize that we have a code base that supports:

1. The Portal Site of RadioReference.com
2. The Database
3. The Wiki
4. The Forums
5. The Web Service
6. Printable Downloads
7. CSV Downloads

.. and many others. Changes between all of these must be propagated, test, implementation, and deployed. I've been working on more OOP techniques to help this situation (OOP = Object Oriented Programing...) - however it's not that easy.

Understand, we have forums and my custom portal tied together, which means that ANY templates that are changed on the forums and the Portal - especially user registration and account/pw management, have potential impact between the two.

The cool thing to remember is to try to remember the last time we've had downtime on the site... it's hard to remember. With > 30 million pageviews a month and one developer and admin keep the site running, I'd say we're kicking butt.

Knock on wood...

The screen-shot shown in the attachment was taken from the file linked in the #1 post of this thread. Will the Code Buttons and Clickable Smilies, the icons around the window used for composing a post, be added at a later date or are they just not available to us?
This confuses me a little, all of what you ask for is there. Do you have your default settings set to ignore those or the "Message Editor Interface" (bottom of that page) set to Simple?

I am humble at your feet, loumaag. I did not understand that setting when originally selecting my settings and was using the default setting of "simple" which also describes my thinking.

Thank you, sir.

I see no ads on the side, nor do I see a difference in the message body width between those two threads.

Edit: Not sure about this version or what I did as I no longer see the 2 posts that I was responding to.:confused:

Do you use Adblock Plus? It's known to hide ads.

No I don't. I do see ads in the Wasteland and 4-Sale forums, but they are between postings.

I'm still baffled at what happened to the 2 postings I replied to that one guy said there was a bug in the software creating message body width differences and the reply was that it was because of the ads. And those posts have vaporized, or I have lost it.

Were you on the 1st page of this thread, there are a few posts there dealing with that (see posts 5, 6, & 7).

Yes that was it. I got confused when I changed the presentation order from oldest first to newest first and then couldn't figure out what happened.

Guys,

What happened with quick-link that allowed you to edit an already-posted thread?

Edit - Nevermind! I see it here, but how come I couldn't edit my posts in the 'For Sale' forum? I wanted to lower the price on an XTS I was selling in the very-first post of the thread, but couldn't...

Classifed ads cannot be edited or deleted except by the staff. If you want to lower the price, just post again.

Thanks for the fast reply, Lou!

Can you purge that post for me? I sold the radio private-sale today to another member...

Sorry for the delay in the reply, but I have been away from the computer for a few days. No, we don't routinely delete stuff in the classified. We leave it for historical and reference purposes. It will sink into oblivion after a bit.
