Tonight I'm hearing the 3rd District MPD say something different than I am used to.

Before saying their callsign to get the dispatcher's attention, they say something like "Four Stride," or "Four Strike?" So for example, they would say "Four Stride 3052."

What is this "Four Stride?" What does it mean???

Thanks!!!

I believe the correct designation is "full stride" which are a foot beat units in a particular psa.

Ahh. Makes sense.

And would the reason I have been hearing more and more of the term "Full Stride" have anything to do with the warmer weather allowing more officers to work outside of vehicles?

Thanks.

I don't think so. Its part of MPD's community base policing efforts. I've been hearing "full stride" probably since Chief Lanier took over.

I've heard "Foot Beat" for a while is that the same as "Full Stride"

I've also heard a new shortened version of Social Security Number, "Soch" pronounced "Sosh" short for Social. Weird word to shorten.

Not certain what the difference is between the two, they both walk a beat.
