SDS100 vs SDS150

I bought a huge pack of 10 foot USB-C cables from Monoprice.com a couple of years ago, none of them have failed yet. They were like $3 each bought in the pack of 8 or 10.

I just purchased a SDS150 and I find no appreciable difference between it and my SDS100.

I actually like the SDS100 better - and feel that it is actually a better built scanner.

This obviously only represents my opinion, but to any perspective buyers, I would seriously contemplate it before purchasing this scanner.

I have no need for GPS, and. There no way I am going to ask my father(we split the cost om my SDS100 and BCD436HP) for a scanner that costs $949.50. I was able to get my SDS100, back when. Uniden had them at $649.50. Now they are $50 more($699.95).

Actually, it's $849. I picked up a second for $787 and is my back up scanner that hasn't left the box. We all know you'll eventually give in and sell the other two.

I am satisfied, with what I have(would like a couple more SDS100s'). Since l can't drive, and. I don't take my SDS100 on trips. There is no need for me to get the SDS150.

It's beyond the GPS which you're hung up on and many positive reviews in the threads. But...we know you'll pull the trigger soon so you can be as cool as us and participate in a "comparison" thread between the two since you'll own them both, instead of just here to complain about the price.

Given the larger size of case on the 150 I was hoping they would've finally fixed it's huge ass. Since that only happened on the 100 because they underestimated the power draw on it. Kind of reminds me of the original Garmin Rino, wasn't as practical to clip on or carry in a pocket like a normal flat handheld.

I tested my SDS150 and my BCD160 scanning the Railroad sharing the same antenna at the same time using identical jumpers and my SDS150 held its own, both scanners were programmed with the same list.

It does depend somewhat on individual use cases, but the SDS150 is a better radio in terms of both performance and features. I live in the footprint of a not well engineered 800 MHz countywide system, a fantastic statewide 700 system, and a fringe area of a neighboring statewide and citywide 800 and 700 systems - all Phase 2. Fringe reception is greatly improved with the SDS150 vs the SDS100, however the audio quality of the built-in speaker still needs improvement. The integrated GPS receiver is a game changer for me as I travel frequently and don't require the tangle of cables and GPS dongle needed for SDS100 GPS functionality. I literally never touch the radio except to adjust volume when on the road. My SDS100 has not been used since; I need to sell it, lol.
