I observed Fredericksburg Truck 2 (older apparatus, not sure if regularly used anymore) today parked in the Central Park shopping area. It had a changeable panel on the side labeled "Truck 1702."

Are Fredericksburg units 17-series in the COG numbering scheme, even though Fredericksburg is not a member of COG?

I believe that they will use the 17 prefix when responding into Stafford. Stafford already uses the 15 prefix when responding into the city. Is truck 2 the old tower? The new Truck 2 is a tiller and a tiller is still on order to replace truck 1. Interesting information. I know their new Assistant Chief of Administration came from a COG agency but I don't think they will join COG. I think they will all start playing in the sandbox of the Northern Virginia Response system numbering however.

It caught me off guard today. The City has started using the "17" prefix again. It appears to be full time now. Fire alarm at Mary Washington Hospital. "Engine 1701 on scene"

Northern Virginia has indeed crossed the Rappahannock. Although not officially part of COG, Nova Fire members have all adopted the numbering system. NoVA Fire/EMS | NVERS

What Tg is that? All voice on fire 1.
I didn't catch the talkgroup. It had to have been one of the ones I already programmed. It may have been Fire 1. But they may have been testing it for a brief period because all I'm hearing is the voice dispatch now too.

Now I'm confused with Spotsylvania using Engine 1301 as a radio designator for a reserve/training engine. I guess now there is an Engine 13 and 1301 because we don't use bravo.

Are you sure it's not Stafford "incident 6"?
Well, I don't have Stafford Incident 6 programmed in OP25. Only Spotsy and Fredericksburg talkgroups. However, there is a quirk that occurs in OP25 in which after there is traffic on a programmed Spotsy fire talkgroup, it will sometimes pick up traffic on a non-programmed talkgroup. Maybe something similar happened on the Stafford/Fredericksburg system, although I don't recall that phenomenon happening on that system before. I also got the impression it was a Fredericksburg call, although we are now several days removed from when I heard the automated voice, so my memory is a little fuzzy.

I think & hope you're correct that it's engine 13 "B". It would be strange for Spotsy to take up the 1300 numbering for NCR/COG since Caroline is assigned 1300 in the RCR numbering system.

I'm pretty sure that would be correct. It would be consistent with Station 4 sometimes using the designation Engine 401 in addition to Engine 4.

In Spotsylvania the 13 designator is assigned to the training center. The apparatus is housed at various stations. Engine 1301 would be a second training/reserve engine. I am not sure which would have gotten renumbered as 1301. One of the training engines is the old Wagon 6. I know the old engine 3 was relocated to 1 and now is Engine 1. A similar example is the second engine stationed at 4. It's engine 401. Spotsylvania does not use bravo suffixes.

A dispatch went out for Engine 1301 and a Battalion Chief said 1301 was not staffed and must have been a cad error.

Spotsylvania does their own thing and is not in line with any of the Nova fire chiefs or cog numbering systems.

Yes there is an engine 4 and 401. At one time they wanted stations with two engines to be numbered like that. There was supposed to be an engine 501.

It is engine 1301. I think that was the old engine 3. New apparatus is being delivered and some new just ordered. A replacement for ladder 6. The new air light unit is in service at 1.

I saw both the new Tower 6 and Ladder 6 in back of Station 4 the other day. I also saw the old Rescue Engine 8, which was numbered "13", posted for sale online.

Oh. I wonder how long until the new tower will be in service. I think the old wagon 6 and engine 1 are now in reserve as engine 13 and 1301. Was rescue engine 13 parked at company 7? New engine and rescue engine on order.

It actually appears to be up in Stafford, apparently in the hands of a private seller. Log into Facebook
