Is there any Free Programs that anyone knows of or Reporting solutions that my spotter crew can use? We have a budget of about $0 so even if we can get the programs and wright a review we are more then happy to.
can you be more vague?
programs for beating addiction?
free programs for credit card debt?
what is wright? Wilbur wright?
Just something that can be updated. like when the spotters are out they can select there location and others could see it. We have live cams that we use so that would help the "dispatcher" know where we are. We dont have a GPS but do have Internet most of the time. And for the programs, just weather programs that we can see radar and upcoming watches and warnings.
If you are an amateur radio operator, you could use APRS to make your location known to other users on a nearly continuous basis. There are APRS client applications that would then allow your "dispatcher" to see the locations of your people in relation to a weather radar display.Just something that can be updated. like when the spotters are out they can select there location and others could see it.
In order to register with SpotterNetwork, you have to take an online test of your severe weather knowledge. That test is more rigorous than any test my local NWS office gives (which is none).

I'm not saying they will completely disregard all SN reports, I guess what I'm saying is that if there is two conflicting reports, one being on the phone, and the other being on SN, I would imagine they consider both the one on the phone carries more credibility as to its accuracy
Actually they don't... First and foremost - you ALWAYS can find out who sent in a SN report. If it ends up being wrong, or outright intentionally misleading, you have the benefit of complete contact info for that person. You can't follow up on a phone report.
And second - the reports are QCed by a team of veteran spotters, NWS mets, and private-sector mets daily. If the reports are making the grade, the individual has to be retrained. If he still doesn't do it right, he's banned.
Then he's back to using the phone![]()
Usually if you get a chance to talk to.somebody you can tell if they know what they're doing.
