It can if it has been reprogrammed with a computer since none of the frequencies have a fourth zero.

Alright, so we just need to find a way for the scanner to be reprogramed then the feed will be up and running!
The key is that all of the frequencies in the rebanded system have a 5 in the fourth decimal place. As long as that does not change, the Pro-97 will work.
As a point of reference, see the Dallas Local Govt. system. Note that this, also, is a rebanded system. Yes, it retained a number of it's old frequencies, but about half of the current frequencies (after rebanding) are in the 851->853Mhz range, which are the point of contention. My old BC250D is also tagged as not supporting rebanding. Yet it tracks this system perfectly well. In fact, since the control channels did not change, I made no changes at all when the system "flipped". (I've since added a few talkgroups.) No custom table is required. (You cannot enter one on the BC250D either.)
For the Fort Worth/TC system, the NE Tarrant system, and the Arlington system, the 851-853Mhz frequencies currently listed all fit the same pattern for the fourth decimal place. All end in a 5. If an additional frequency, not fitting that pattern, is added later, then the answer would change. The Pro-97, and any other scanner unable to accept a custom table would then be no longer able to fully track the system.
For the Arlington system, on my current scanners, I have updated nothing at all, since the control channels did not change. All still track perfectly well (using control channel only).
For the Garland system, that fourth slot is filled with zeros, so a rebanding friendly scanner, and custom tables, is the order of the day. That's also required, as you know, for the Lewisville system, which has one 'non-conforming' frequency (853.425).
Thanks, I forgot about the fourth digit. Guess I will be reprograming more scanners at the store in the days to come.

I have a a cable for the Pro-96/500/197 etc. Would that work for you?

I honestly don't know. csfd77 had generously allowed me to borrow his scanner to host the FtW Fire feed. All of my scanners are Uniden, so I don't have much idea about the GRE scanners.
A quick search shows that Radioshack part number 20-289 is the programming cable for the Pro 97. Is that the same for the scanners you mention?

Just found a Radioshack page (http://support.radioshack.com/support_tutorials/communications/hand-scanners.pdf) that shows that the cable for the Pro-96 is the same.
So if that could be borrowed it would be very helpful.

You don't need custom tables.
All you need for Ft. Worth is the new frequencies.
Remember, the 97 is not "rebanding "friendly", so no custom tables can be entered. The reason it will still work on the Ft. Worth system, or N.E. Tarrant, or Arlington, is the "4th digit ='s 5" exception. If that changes, with the addition of a new frequency outside that pattern, like there is in Lewisville, then it would no longer be fully functional. For now, it still is.

Okay, I will try programming in the new control channels.
The 20-289 is the "old" USB cable. The current version is the 20-546. Either should work, as would the GRE cable, furnished with the PSR-500 or PSR-600, or sold separately on GRE's site or through ScannerMaster. From what I remember seeing posted, the only difference between the GRE cable, & the newer Radio Shack cable is the color. Otherwise, they are identical.

Okay, it appears to be working. I will take it to work tomorrow where I get much better reception and verify that it is functioning.
So who is going to host it? I think there were two volunteers.
Preferably a dedicated computer for hosting. But obviously beggars can't be choosers.
With more time I can probably donate an old laptop to the cause so that there will be a dedicated computer for hosting if one isn't available.
i think 'jasday' was the only person that said they could host with good reception.

Hey guys, my computer that I was going to use bit the dust over the week. I'm trying to get it fixed or find a replacement. I'll let you know. If you find someone else to host the feed, use them. Were trying to decide what were going to do since we have my laptop.

Once I get some time I will be able to configure an old laptop I have so that hopefully all we will need is just an internet connection and an outlet, kind of just plug and play.
