• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Received a new-to-me G4 today, Firmware 2.03, using the new PPS 4. Connected, downloaded owners profile and saved it. Reset G4 to factory and created a new profile using the Radio Reference database for Ohio MARCS-IP for a single county. Stepped through each tab, set up Zone 1 knob 1 with 64 tg's and uploaded to the G4. G4 reports success but says also not programmed. Obviously I missed a step somewhere, hoping someone here could point me in the right direction.

TIA,

Nick

Yes, selected 64 from a list of 173, added to the non-priority scan window.

Ok I am not sure then as long as the site information is correct. The thing I asked you about was a mistake I made early on in my Unication start up days. Perhaps you could save the file, zip it up and someone can look at it here and possibly help.

Also letting is know the exact site and county you're trying receive is usually helpful info as well as your location in reference to that.

Hopefully we can help you get it sorted out.

Nick-

What @K9KLC said... "Not Programmed" is what comes up when your zone knob is set to an un-programmed zone. If you put everything in zone 1, knob position 1, I'd double check that your zone knob is set to position 1. I've had this happen many times.

Agreed. I've had to double check doing the RR import to make sure things are where I want them to be.

What version of Windows are you using? I haven't been able to get Windows 11 to program. It goes through all the motions and claims it programmed, but it didn't take when I read out the Unication. I had to use a Windows 10 machine. I couldn't figure it out, I tried 2 different Windows 11 machines.

Prior to programming I read various threads here on RR and FB about that same issue and thought, no way, I'll be absolutely sure I'm in the correct position. I had a G5 that I sold a couple of years ago, got disenchanted with Unication folks and rumors of a scanner, upgraded G5 firmware that offered some new features but only if you signed up early, etc. So......, I'm back. New PPS seems OK so far, just need to get my head back in the programming game. Thanks again for all your help.

FWIW… I have Unication G4’s, G5/V & G5/U — no issues here running the latest PPS on Windows 11 On both a Microsoft Surface Pro and also an HP Windows Laptop.

I just ordered the G4 as well. I'm waiting on delivery, but wanted to set up a profile on the software so I can use it upon receiving it. My model is GS442RE-SXXXEN. I don't see that option on the PPS software. I downloaded the most up-to-date version. What is your model number? Was it listed?
