• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

The second one arrived early last week. It booted up and programmed ok and is working fine. The first one that came back and wouldn’t boot has been sent back for DOA. They also asked that I send in my programming file for them to load before sending it back.

Sounds good. Out of pocket what did it all run you so far? Just shipping and units were under warranty or?

Both units are under warranty thankfully. So far just the one way shipping the first time. I packed both units in the same box and insured it for $1400 which cost me a little extra. They paid separate shipping per unit then w2lie sent me a label from unication to ship the DOA one back. If I really wanted to nitpick I bought a $1 padded envelope to send the DOA unit back.

I must say none of this would’ve been possible, or at least in the methods it has without w2lie. He has been very communicative and even harassing unication daily when I got the first unit back unresponsive.

I just ordered a G5 (from @w2lie) with the intention of monitoring MOSWIN and MARRS. Wondering if I made a mistake. Are you able to successfully use the (working) G5 you received back on MOSWIN? Phil are new G5/VHF units coming with the new chip/firmware that avoids this issue?

I live in Washington but was traveling from Missouri back thru Kansas, Colorado and Wyoming and thought I would put those systems in. I already have an Oregon partial state P25 system in. After my experience I will never try MOSWIN or WYOLINK again. I may try KSICS in Kansas as I travel there quite often but my experience was one that’ll shy me away from trying a mixed system like MOSWIN again.

BTW, I received the DOA warranty replacement yesterday. It mostly works, they dropped in the programming file I sent which works fine in one unit but a couple channels display Pager Param Error 0x010e on the one they programmed. Going to examine the programming file sometime next week.
