Pulled the trigger today guys...ended up going with a ground mast configuration much like ny1w, except I am using electrical conduit pipe for the mast.

We'll see how things go, got to wait on the antenna and coax to be delivered.

All of you guys factored into my thought process......Thanks for all of your suggestions and advice! :)

pound some pipes into the ground on either side of your mast, run a bolt through all 3 for a hinge. use a weight and a string hanging from the roof to where you pound your pipes in to get it all staight. at your apex use 2 L brackets on either side as a slot for the mast. anytime you want to work on it just have one guy on the ground to pivot it up and one guy on the roof to pull with a rope, very easy. the pipes you pound into the ground will act as a ground too. the late ham 'WB1AOK' that gave me my mast had 2 45ft sailboat masts with the same pivot system. sitting on top were homemade quads.. he used bamboo spreaders !! should of seen me driving home with that 33ft mast tied on top of my little dodge ram 18yrs ago !!!!

Thanks for the advice, sounds like me and 18 year old will be having some father/son time. He will not be happy as it will eat into his Xbox time...lol!

He will definitely be on the ground as the last I made him get on the roof for some eave painting he about had a breakdown.... ;)

I could only imagine what you looked like.....an M1 Abrams tank with the mast for a turret! :D
