I think I heard a Gainesville PD unit(Radio ID 791####) calling Cooke Co. SO on the Denton/Cooke Co system, so I'm guessing they might have new radios. I'm not hearing their new system from Bedford, and would not expect to. Anyone closer might try tuning in to see if it's up.

Cooke Co. and Gainesville TRS is part of the Denton Regional Radio system. Seems that was always their sneaky plan from the beginning.

Last thing I read in #2 above, was it was going to be a Tait system connected to Sherman.

Okay Ben, found a link I could read. Seems like Gainesville is system swapping. However, the article says they are fostering a share option with Sherman who uses the same system. So the article really seems more like Gainesville is reaching out to Sherman more for Interoperability than a shared system. There is a lot of land between Sherman and Gainesville, I can't see it being one big system. But, who buys a Tait system in the first place? I guess we'll see.

Took a Sunday drive up that way, and found a little info.

Only talkgroup I heard was 4911 for Gainesville Police. Didn't catch any fire channels. Just not much going on when I was there. I did not hear any of their conventional channels.

My turn to take a drive out there, and 4921 appears to be a fire dispatch channel (only heard a tone out and dispatcher notifying station 3 of a "tone test" no live calls).

What I found interesting is the System ID and WACN are the same as Balch Springs in Dallas County (I have picked that system up in my travels and that was logged automatically). The bandplan is identical, and there's no visible overlap in site numbers or in talkgroups, so it's got me curious if these are more than just identical twins (and really is one common system).

Looking back at Trunking Recorder from my drive last week, I also had a hit on 4916, but not enough to ID it. My guess is animal control.

That is interesting, I am hesitant to combine the two in the database since they are so far apart. I'll look and see if I can find any communication about why they are using Balch Springs controller.
