Gastonia City Fire Dispatch

So, after some minor revisions to the scanners around my house this past week I noticed Gastonia Fire is using one of the ‘automated dispatchers’ like Charlotte Fire has been using for years on initial alarm. Just dumb luck that I just noticed this change to GFD or is it truly this recent of a change that just happened to coincide with my shuffle of scanners?

Any other recent changes to Gastonia City services that I may have missed? Also curious if we’ll see any changes to county fire dispatch since city & county dispatch out of the same center even though on separate radio systems…

CFD uses human dispatchers on Alarm occasionally. Maybe Gastonia works similarly?

Yep, never quite figured why a human occasionally shows up on CFD alarm as it doesn’t fit a pattern of a location that the automated would mispronounce (actually impressive how well it’s been tweaked) nor necessarily a ‘complicated order’.

With GFD I’ll continue monitoring-seems like it’s a recent change so the automated may be off & on for a while like CFD did when first rolling out their system. Always something new out there for us to discover!

Usually when Charlotte Fire uses human voice for dispatching, they are doing the following:

1. CAD Updates

2. System Maintenace and adjustments

Actually, you are correct. Charlotte Fire gives "Samantha" (the automated locution voice dispatching) a break on Mondays. It is to break up the monotony of the Alarm Dispatcher just staring at screens and actually "keeps them frosty", so-to-speak.

Well the dispatchers answer the other channels as they check in right they just type stuff and automotive dispatches thats how wake county does and theyvchwck in route and go to ops are rac channel assignted

Might need up.grade.aoftware I got sds 100 I just got but lot times if it's phase 2 it scrambles are has hard time picking it up if its not phase 2 scanner are software up.date I love mine but not the price for what it was but its better then have Riley on live feeds i might put live feed upfor my city

I would love to have a feed for Gaston county, but a lot of people didn’t wanna do that it’s a lot of work

Yea it is u got buy cables separate and u got put them.up.like are cjty.pd.is encrypted but u can hear dispatch but illl love. Put all.city fire and ems but maby I can but dis u end up.picking up gaston county
