I believe something changed recently in Windows 10/11 with how they handle Location Services systemwide if you don't actually have location permissions on the system-level enabled. Prior to recent weeks, if you didn't have locations permissions turned on in Win 10/11 settings, but then used (for example) the RRDB Nearby feature, it would still "locate" you by other sources (likely your I.P. Address) which can narrow it down to a city/region. Within the past few weeks, this no longer works unless you have location permissions turned on in Win 10/11 systemwide settings.

I did as Blantonl recommended.

I click on reset permissions to change from Block to Ask (Default).

I reopen Chrome and go to RR database and click near me. I get the below.

I click Allow.

I get this message.

I go back in to Privacy and Security and I find the Location setting has change back to Blocked.

Weird. I have also shutdown and then restart the computer.

Don’t feel bad. Near me does not work for me on my cell or at home. I am 17 miles from the county line yet it keeps bringing up that county, not mine. All the location sites online get my location within a mile of my home.

Have you tried in another browser like Edge?
