Any suggestions on why I can always hear all of Burlington Co EMS but most of time I can't pick up the fire trucks signing on? Not even in my own town.

Do you have both the conventional fireground frequencies and the response talkgroups on the Burlington County trunked system programmed? What scanner and programming software are you using?

BCD996P2 had the occasional loss when in Burlington but now in Pemberton it's a lot worse.
Tonight, I couldn't hear a single truck in Pemberton. 15 min later heard all the ones in Mansfield, then just a little while ago nothing on the Carlucci's alarm in Mt Laurel. Still on the North tower, never got anything from the south.
I'm using the antenna on the back because when I try something better the voices sound garbled.

Fire and EMS use the same talk groups. If you hear EMS you should hear Fire. Perhaps you're referring to the medic dispatch talk group?

As I'm sure you are aware, there is more than one "North Tower", there are many north towers. The problem with the 996P2 is that it cannot handle linear simulcast systems like this one in certain locations. There are many places around the county where there is overlapping coverage from multiple tower sites. Thats when your 996P2 will have trouble receiving clear audio on active talk groups. Sometimes when it gets really bad you won't get any audio at all.

Moving the antenna and using the attenuator are pretty much your only options to improve reception. The idea here is to receive one site much stronger than adjacent sites so the scanner can handle the incoming data and decode it clean, so you get clear audio.

Yeah, according to the map I should be able to see one across the street if it wasn't for the trees. That's why I was thinking it was maybe overpowering my radio. I kicked on the attenuator and changed the little rubber antenna back to the telescopic. Quiet today but did get everything in Cinnaminson. Just have to experiment over time.
Just did the same for State PD group 'C'. haven't heard from them since I left Burlington.

Update: I didn't hear Southampton EMS & Fire truck sign on to go to State Police Barracks, but did hear Medford EMS, Bordentown EMS and someone signing off at Lourdes @ Camden around the same time.

Check your P25 Threshold setting. I have mine at Level 7 and handles simulcast systems pretty good.

Just to update......
Downloaded a fresh copy of RR Burl Co North program again and uploaded it into the cleaned-out scanner.
That seems to have done the trick. Also found that it likes an 8 threshold now instead of the 7 as in Burl Twp.

Just got familiar with number tagging. Can now punch in the system & channel without waiting to hit hold when someone transmits on it.
Just using 0-9 now, but If I start putting things in the teens or 20's is there a way to quick toggle between those banks of 10 instead of locking each one out separate.
