Filter settings are one and the same for a whole conventional department and for a whole site and cannot be different for individual frequencies. But IFX are set per frequency so try if that helps. Push Channel then enter the frequency followed by Channel. Then do Func+7 to toggle IFX.

IFX are a function to switch to another mechanical filter in the scanner. Either do that to the frequency that doesn't work with W-INV or do W-INV to it and do IFX to all other frequencies for that site.

It's always a good thing to read through the whole user manual once or twice before using a new device.

Original poster, it is confusing. Global filters affect every object on the radio, if you get an improvement on a conventional channel or on a system on a certain filter selected on global filters it very well might compromise other objects in the radio who do well on the default Global filter of.. normal.

Always adjust filters on the radio itself with the keyboard so as to listen to and observe reception indicators to give you results that are tangible. While using Global filters you find that something is improved then return the global filter to normal which is default. Then go in and either apply the new improved filter to the sites of a system or the department options of a conventional group of frequencies, as said each channel can't be customized.

When using the keyboard to make any change on your radio always remember when you hook up to Sentinel to transfer your SD card to your profile first thing so as to permanently save any changes made on the keyboard. When you're done your business and you transfer back to your radio, SD card changes will be saved.

Avoid using the auto and wide auto choices, as they sample each filter and slow scanning down.

You always have the option of adding the filter indicator on your display so as to keep track of what's on what.

I found that the IFX helps a lot on the 450-490mhz with the Normal filter.
Have fun, continually toggling ifx on and off each individual object. All you have to do is hold on the object, push function and seven and that will activate ifx on a single object. We're not talking about trunked systems, we are talking about single conventional objects, no matter if it's conventional, p25 digital. It's not meant to work on trunk systems or talk groups per se but when you make this change on a frequency it is global and affects that frequency throughout the radio so if you wanted to change a control channel on a system and apply ifx, you could go somewhere on the radio and program that control Channel and apply ifx and it will affect the trunked system and maybe improve it.

It's such a small shift that it usually doesn't affect things one way or the other but every once in awhile, you will notice a marked difference
