• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all, i have a Moto GM300 that i'm finally getting around to installing in my personal vehicle. So far everything looks great.

My issue is that the unit i have will transmit and recieve just fine but the audio coking out of the speaker on the face of the radio is pathetically low. In a mobile environment there is no way that i will be able to hear it. Even turned to max volume there's barely a whisper.

The model number is:
M43GMC29C2AA

It has the 16 pin accessory port on the back with jumpers between pins 7 & 9 and 15 & 16. I assume from some other reading that i need to tap a pair of these accessory pins to put in an external speaker (which would be my preference anyway). I have tried connecting a Radio Shack Extension Speaker (cat no. 21-549) and after removing the 1/8" mono tip and connecting them to various pins on the the accessory slot i still wasn't able to hear anything.

Any help would be appreciated!

The usual 4 ohm motorola speaker is the prefered speaker to use.

Accessory Connector Wiring

You need to get the accessory plug(if you do not have one)
and wire the external speaker to pins 1 & 16 and sever the
wire between pins 15 & 16. The accessory plug kit comes
with extra wires with pins already attached to one end and
makes it easy to do the job. Just make sure you put the pins
in the correct slots because without the removal tool its almost
impossible to get them out.

As was suggested by fineshot1, remove the jumper for 15 and 16, and connect your external speaker to 1 (negative) and 16 (positive).

Not sure, but if that is a 16 channel radio you'd need to check the RSS to see what pin 9 is programmed to as it is programmable...it is being jumpered to pin 7 (ground).

From my experience the jumper between 7 & 9 is for a MaxTrac. On some models you need that jumper in there to select channels. I know by experience :) The folks at our super radio shop install that jumper on all Motorola radios that go out. It doesn't hurt anything.

His radio is a GM300 not a MaxTrac.

9 and 7 on the MaxTrac jumps emergancy alarm (pin 9) to ground (pin 7).

I had a customer's MaxTrac come into my shop with the same problem almost a year ago. [MaxTracs and GM300s operate basically the same] It's been a while since I touched GM300 RSS, but make sure that the option isn't turned on that only allows radio traffic to pass thru the front speaker if the mic is "on hook" (grounded). It will produce the same symptoms you're speaking of.
