Must be something about this heat and high humidity, but my GMRS channels are lighting up across the band in the middle of the night. Just about every channel is active if you listen long enough. I'm located in southeast Ohio (Grid Square EM89) and am hearing a lot of stuff 100-200 miles west of me almost nonstop. Everything started about 2300 EDT on Tuesday night and still going strong at 0200 EDT Wednesday morning. I've heard WQPV948 in Indianapolis on 462.55 MHz and what I'm guessing was WRBK665 in West Manchester Ohio (between Dayton and Richmond IN) on 462.725 MHz. Several other strong signals out there on other GMRS channels but I'm not hearing any user or repeater call signs. I'm drawing general conclusions based on the town names and state highways being discussed. We don't have many repeaters in our area and these out of area machines are booming in like a local. Interesting late night in the shack.
