Go-to Scanner for Portland area

Hey everyone !

just curious, what's everybody's go-to scanner ? I'm trying to find a really good portable one that I won't have to worry about for a long time that covers all good stuff, lol , Thanks !

Unfortunately, a lot of stuff has gone encrypted on the newer P25 Phase II systems -- so it might be a good idea to mention what you're really interested in monitoring. For example, if you're wanting to listen to LE traffic, you're basically going to be out of luck, at least in the metro area (sans OSP).

Good point !, welp I know PPB is out of the question now :( and probably OSP , but Washington county , PDX airport , Portland and surrounding areas fire ,Amr, Providence Portland Medical Center security , Oregon dept of forestry, us forest service, im probalby missing some ;)

You can also count out LE in Washington Co. and Clackamas Co., as they have gone encrypted as well. Land management agencies are mostly analog, with some P25 sprinkled in. Security and businesses are running a lot of DMR at this point. Airband is an easy one, most scanners will have that.

With Whistler now closed, I think that pretty much leaves Uniden's P25 Phase II-compatible models on the table, or else going the multiple SDR / computer software route.

As far as specific models go, someone here will probably chime in soon. Because of the above, I've gotten out of the scanner realm, so a bit rusty.
