• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I recently bought a GP360 from one of the overseas ebay stores, and so far its not to bad, although I have a couple issues/questions. First off, it seems to not receive/transmit as good as some other radios that I have. For instance, today me and co-worker were talking on a simplex tac channel and he was about a block or two away from me. According to him I was very scratchy and almost unreadable. Same goes for me receiving his transmissions, he was unreadable. Although when I switched to my HYT TC-610 everything was loud and clear. I did try putting a different antenna on the radio but got no change in reception.

Second, I am told that I can program quick call 2 tones into a GP360, although I can not find anyone who knows how. I did a search around on here and found a couple references to this, but no directions on how.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, and I hate to tell you this, your first issue was buying it on overseas ebay. You never know what that radio has been through, treated, etc. Second, to program the Quick Call you need a computer with the programing software for that radio. It sounds like to cure your problems with the reception issues, you'll need to put that radio on a radio analizer and check over all the settings and make sure its tuned up good. Good luck to you sir.

Yeah but even if I would have bought a HT from in the states, its still not known what it has been through or how it was treated. Plus, buying the US equivalent to this radio is about $200-$300 more.

And I forgot to mention that I do have the programming software and cable for this radio. I am looking for some instruction on how to program the quick call.

Yeah I figured that was reply I was going to get. It seems that whenever someone mentions the overseas Motorola's they get same reply. Well I do have the programming software and cable for this radio, I am just looking for instruction on programming the quick call. And thanks for the advise on the radio analyzer. I think I might do that.

I may be a little off topic, but I hear a lot of sour grapes about the HK radios but lets face it they ain't made here, not all the HK sellers are bad and they will work with you if there is a problem. I just got a GP380 and it is a great radio. To use as a ham radio and scanner it is just fine. As for an equal HT1250 foget it by the time I would by the radio and the cps the cost would be way over what I wanted to spend and I could not justify it. My last comment this not the place to come down on a person about where he buys a radio. Just my 2 cents worth...

I apologize if I came off the wrong way in what I said. I didn't have any intention of coming down on this gentleman or anyone on where they puchace any equipment. Just stating the obvious in which all of us on this site know that when you buy online from strangers from anywhere, you may get hosed. Its a risk we all have probably taken for the better price. Again I apologize for coming off the wrong way on that.

Quick Call is pretty easy to program.....You'll need to know your CAP codes and tone freq's. You can get these from your local radio shop or from this website. You'll also need to know the quick call format your area uses.....eg....A,or B or C or D or A/B or A long B or A/B A/C etc. If you can obtain that info and you know how to use your RSS it should be know problem.

I know that my tones are in a A/B configuration and the tones are 1232.7 and 643.2. I have tried putting them in using the CPS, but there are multiple different settings and none allow me to input the entire tone, ie I can't put the decimal and the number that follows the decimal. Again, with the European version CPS everything is different. None of the tone set up page looks familiar at all.

The only thing I could think of would be, 1 make sure that it does not have the Auto power mode checked in the CPS, # 2 make sure it is in High Power mode. I have never had any GP series of the Waris radios, but have had many of the HT/PRO and I love mine. I wish the US version had the larger eeprom like the EURO/ASIA version do. The HT1250 will only do 128ch and the GP360 255ch !!!
I have been working with the HT and PRO CPS since 2000 and it is most likely a setting issue, but I have never used the GP CPS though it should be very similar to the US/Latin type.

RR member NSPD should know about the tones ,I know he has had many of these GP's. I forgot I did have one of these but never had the CPS for and converted it to a HT1250 via Labtool. The one I had may have been a GP680 cannot remember?
