GRE PSR800 Wiki pages for the Scanner says the following:
Micro SD Card Notes
You can use up to 32GB as long as the blocks are 512 bytes each
San Disk micro cards are recommended. Other brands may have issues.
Formatting the Micro SD Card properly. The SD association recommends using their SD memory card format tool. They say Windows does not properly format SD cards. Their tool can be found here https://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/ under Downloads*
I have been using a 32Gig MicroSD card with the New WS1080 and format with the EZScan software on the menu with no problems.

install the sd formatter 4.0 for windows www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/eula_windows/
put sdcard into scanner, connect usb cable from computer to scanner, run sd formatter on the drive representing the sdcard, it will tell you which drive (e: for example) within 30 seconds of connecting the scanner to the computer.
then after formatting do the cpu and dsp updates while connected to the computer.
if your using windows, always using the safely disconnnect option (right click the icon in the lower right corner)

Some have reported that using a larger card tends to slow down processes such as initial boot. It is a good idea to use only the format option in the 800 software. Other programs can corrupt the card even though they seem to be doing the correct format.

Search this GRE forum for earlier posts about the -800 scanner. There are some good tips, especially from Troymail and Jay911. I had one of these scanners and used a 32GB card. It took several seconds upon powering the unit, as it indexed the files on the card. 32GB will hold alot.....more than you'll likely need. Ever.
Moral = the larger the card and data contained within, the longer the index time.
