Big surprise for me was the lack of V-Folders! I had read so much about it being an analog version of the 500 with a better display that I completely assumed it would have the V-Folders feature.
At the risk of disclosing more than I'm supposed to... Believe it or not, the PSR-500's V-Folders are associated with its DSP. Since the PSR-310 has no DSP, it has no associated V-Folders.

WOW! Very interesting, if strange (to my uninvolved-in-the-design-eyes), info! Huh...I never would have guessed that! Oh well...

Thanks for the info, Don! That explains it!

So Far Away....
.

I really like the discriminator tap function of the headphone jack, that's a plus. No need to perform surgery.

this is inaccurate, this output will allow you to run Unitrunkerand IDTracker, but is not a Direct Tap needed for use with apps like DSD,,so physical -modding- is indeed required..

and not the phone jack,,rather the PC/IF port on the right side..

just to clarify,,

I just got my 310 today, and after playing with it for an hour or so I am disappointed that GRE gave us such a nice display, but continues to alternate the text on a single line for the SCANLIST / ALPHA TAG for conventional objects and TSYS / TGID for Trunked Systems.

There is one blank line at the bottom of the display for a Conventional Object and one blank line above the bottom line of the display for a TSYS Object. You'd figure they'd take advantage of the extra line available. Maybe a firmware update could fix this oversight?

I read later, after my scanner had shipped that the V-Folders were not available on this unit, had I known that I would not have made the purchase.....caveat emptor....altho I take blame for that as I didn't read the specs, just assumed it was a PDR 500 without digital. I was hoping like others, to have an analog unit with different set-ups in memory.
