Don,

Win500 import LTR from Win97. Why is each space between LCN freqs filled with 148.033750?
(should probably be in the "Official Starrsoft WIN500 Software Thread", but...)

I'm not seeing that here. I created a new file in Win97, set bank 0 to LTR and entered LTR freqs in channels 1, 2, 4, and 6, saved the P97 file, then imported that P97 file into an empty P500 file. The freqs look OK in Win500 and, after uploading to the PSR-500, look OK in the radio. All "TSYS" frequencies except those show up as 0.000000.

PLEASE please please PLEASE slowly put down the radio, pick up the manual, and read it. Then read it again. Then when you are ready to program, either use software or follow the manual step by step. Or follow the instructions that have been reposted for you here in this very thread many many times.

If you have an additional questions, please use the spell-check feature, and some basic capital letters and punctuation to help us follow along.

To keep along with the theme of banks just set your different trunked radio
systems into different scan lists. Select those scanlists as if they were banks.

It's really not a difficult concept. Instead of having fixed size memory banks
you have scanlists that use space from a common pool of memory.

The fact it doesn't have all the things you mention is what makes it so powerful and capable.

Did you download WIN500 or PSREdit? That may help you to get the overall big picture of how things are done.

If you are having trouble getting past the bank of channels issue then think of scanlists as banks. Just think of it in an opposite direction. Instead of being IN a bank while programming a channel, with this radio you program the frequency or other object and TELL it what "bank" (scanlist) you want it to be in. The difference being that you can assign it to one, a few, or even all the lists you want.

That would appear to me to be a "bug" in the scanner program since the actual VC frequency is already being displayed directly, unless the intent was to show info about the VC rather than CC. Looks like if I really wan to know I will have to push the buttons to get to the ANALYZe screen.

thats what has been bugging me too. yes, if im in roam mode then i can hit MAN and see what CC i am on, but if i am using STAT (which never seems to work anyways) and a transmission occurs, i cant just switch over to MAN and see which one it was.

Which brings me to my main point...

The radio seems to pick up and decode decently (95%ish) when in ROAM. When set to STAT, the radio seems to not even recognize the strongest CC more than 50% of the the time, and it is just not even worth listening to. This is something that the pro96 could do and not even on purpose!

I think you need the sort of help that can not be provided here.

However, I will make an attempt to help you.

Take a DEEP breath, and then put your scanner down.

Now, OOOPPPEEENNNN the users manual and carefully read it.

Now, go back to your radio, with the user’s manual in hand, and then follow it step by step.

What you need to do is return the radio. This is the 10th or so response from you saying how you hate the radio. Give it a rest.

mikeh,

I'm annoyed of repeated admission of your ineptness to program this easy to program scanner - if only you would read the instructions in the OM as many in this thread have suggested.

These steps are basic for programming a trunking system.

Reset to default and start over. To do this, turn scanner off and back on, then during welcome screen:
1. press 0
2. press 1
3. press ENT
4. press any key twice
Now ready to start a new system:
1. F1 (New)
2. F1 (TGRP)
3. Scroll down to ID: (Wildcard)
4. SEL
5. Key in ID # then press > repeatedly to last letter (d) of card and press CLR back to last number of ID.
6. F1 (Done)
7. F1 (Save)
8. F1 (TGRP)
9. Scroll to TSYS: and press SEL.
10. Default is MOT 800/900 but use > to change.
11. Scroll to Frequencies: and press SEL
12. Key freqs in LCN if ED/LTR or Controls if MOT/P25. Note: scroll down for subsequent freqs.
13. F1 (Save) 3 times.
14. SCAN

"cpunut" already said in another thread that GRE was able to duplicate this and it should be in the soon to come update. I can confirm what you're seeing which I also detailed in the other thread....

Or if you are okay to use the PSREdit or Win500 software (loading a file to the PC program and then loading the information to the radio), maybe post what you want to do and one of us nice folks here will help you out with a load.

Of you could post a file downloaded from your radio, maybe someone could help you fix it up a bit and send it back to you. This means you need to first experiment and make sure you can download and upload a file with your radio.

I know we all get frustrated at time, but to keep bashing the radio because you to do not yet fully understand its user interface it is not really useful. The manual does give examples which are useful, as others have noted.

I hear that a firmware update is not long off :)

Wonder why I didn't read that, outstanding tip.

Not meaning to answer in my "customary wise ass" style as some people refer to it, ;) but that function goes back to the Pro-96/2096....

P25 NAS Catches...........

I had an opportunity to try the P25 NAS decode yesterday. Very fast. Midway Airport Chicago TSA use 172.9 for one of their freqs and from a few miles away I was able to get an nas hit of 001. Now I'll have to try it out north near O'Hare Airport. I tried 2 UHF trunked systems yesterday but had not read the P25 UHF thread. I programmed the 3600 baud trunked systems for Midway Airport Operations and the Federal Metropolitan Correctional Center and neither one would decode. Man, was I bummed. Now I have the lo and hi parameters set so I'll see how they do later this evening or tomorrow.
