I have been trying to load the trunk freqs for my area which is the Rio Grand Valley South Texas, I get the freqs and talkgroups in but I dont hear any audio, I can see it scanning and the T displays when it scans the talkgroups and I see it stop on the freqs but dont hear anything.
When I do program the talkgroups and If I select too many it tells me it is not able to scan the freqs correctly if I select them all, Do I supposed to select them all or just 1 talkgroup from that selection?

I also try to select a group or groups of freqs such as DPS and it wont let me, I can only select a few

I was able to program trunks on my 396t with no issue. I
I am using the Butel software.
The counties I am trying to Program are, Cameron, Hildago and the cities within the counties, will be going to San Antonio in a few weeks and would like to get as much programmed if possible before I leave.
Thanks for any Help.

Hello there. I don't know anything about the Butel software, but both Win5oo and PSREdit have excellent software programs for the 5oo, and both have thirty day free trial periods so you can test both out. Perhaps therein lies the problem. I was a new user to the 500 and within 5 minutes I had everything programmed and was receiving it all as well, (except for the V folders, which took me a little longer). I see you're an audio provider so I don't know if that grants you download rights to the RR database, if not become a premium subscriber so you can program your unit. I am still learning the 500 so I'm sorry I can't assist you off the top of my hat. Good Luck! TT PS you might also post this in the software forum?

As I have repeatedly said in RR, I threw my Butel software in the trash where it belongs. I used Win500 on my GRE PSR 500.

I will give the win 500 a try and if I like it better the Butel might be for sale.
Thanks

While you're at it, why don't you give the free trial of PSREdit500 a try too and see if you like it also. I find it very user-friendly, and I really like the extra large display mode it gives you for controlling your scanner. Really easy to see from across the room when you have it running on your computer and happen to not be close to the computer or scanner.

Works Great

No problem, did you get your counties audio to come through?

The audio comes thru fine, win500 is so much easier to use, I might try that other software out to when I get a chance..My butel will be out the window or place it in the classified section in RR. I dont universal radio will take software back that has been open, but will find out for sure first.
Thanks

Win500 can if you're also running the remote client software. That screen is definitely larger, Don, but I find the extra large display of PSREdit500 to be easier to read with it's smoother font. Not knocking your program, WIN500 is a fine piece of software, but I prefer the other remote display.
