just bought a psr500 scanner can anyone tell me if it will be a hard scanner to program,also what is the lower limit of the 700mhz band it has is it 764.ooomhz or 796mhz? thanks!

How hard it is to program really depends on the person, and how quickly you can wrap your mind around the Object Oriented Programming concept. One of the software programs may help you to understand some of those concepts. They all provide free trial periods AFAIK.

The lower limit on the 700MHz band if 764.00000 MHz as of CPU Firmware 1.5. Current CPU version is 1.6, and current DSP version is 1.3. You can get the current versions that are in your scanner by pressing the number 3 key while the welcome message is displayed.

Firmware updates for the PSR-500 are available on the GREAmerica web site if your radio doesn't have the latest versions.

I got mine on Saturday night. Sunday morning I programmed several comventional channels and two trunked system manually. Then I downloaded Win500. It's not hard to program manually -- but it is SO much better, faster, and complete with the software.
