I've been hearing the Troop H3 NCHP comms on the MEck Co TRS system (#2352). At this point I've only heard the Tower simulcast, no cars yet. Anybody know the details on this?
On the Wake County system, in the beginning, you would only hear dispatch, and not the troopers responding, because they were responding on low band. Over time, as more troopers got 800 radios, I'd hear their responses on 800. Now, most of the troopers in the county are on 800, and I believe I get to hear most of the traffic.
When NCHP Monroe Comm Center dispatches for H-5 (Mecklenberg) and H-3 (Union and Anson) cars, they dispatch on both low band and the CMPD trunked system.
The cars reply on either low band or the CMPD system, but it is not a simulcast.
You would have to listen to both to hear the cars.
Some H-3 units to have 800 radios.
Getting back to the dispatching end, there are three dispatch consoles at NCHP Monroe. I know two of them have 800 radios tied in (the consoles used for Meck / Union / Anson, and for Gaston / Cleveland.
IF the third does not, and the telecommunicator at the third console was assisting the telecommunicator working Meck / Union / Anson, you might not hear that third telecommunicator on both 800 and low band.
Again, I'm not sure it all three consoles are currently identical in that regard, though.
And Union Co also shares the Hwy 601 corridor with Cabarrus Co, another 800 entity.
I don't pay much attention to H-3 comms, but would presume atleast sargeants and above would have 800 access, along with Troop H supervisors.
If you weren't familiar, you can also hear the Gaston / Cleveland Co NCHP dispatches on talkgroup 02384. Cleveland Co units also have access to Shelby TRS.
One of our hobbyists, who is involved in Cleveland Co public safety, recently mentioned that troopers in that county can sometimes access the Mecklenberg TRS from Cleveland Co easier than they can access the Shelby system.
