Handheld bc346xt question

I just bought a BC346xt over the weekend. My question is when I startup the scanner and read the display it say BCD996xt Digital Scanning. I was wondering if that was normal for a during startup? If not is there differnt programing in the 346xt body? I do pick up IL state police channels (car to car calls, Airplane, and dispatch) suppost to be Starcom Digital. So if anyone could shed light on this it would be greatly welcome.

Did you buy this new? The opening info screen can be changed. Maybe somebody changed it.

Did you buy programming with the scanner? It could be that whoever programmed it used the info from a 996

This is a feature of freescan software. If someone programs a scanner and doesn't download the scanner settings, but uploads the settings for the scanner from another scanner the Welcome text is changed. It won't hurt anything, but you can change back to the default or custom message with freescan or any other XT programming software.
