Terror is terror. It means nothing. How does one define terror when one already finds out that terror was caused by our own government. Their was no 9/11 in the first place. Our own stupid government caused the 9/11 attacks in the first place. This is all part of the NWO set to take place in 2012. This so-called war of terror is just another ploy for our government to take control of the oil rich nations. And what does it have on railfans? NOTHING. The Government is planning for another terror attack on it's own soil. Yup,that's right. The government is going to attack it's own american people again. Hmm. Make's one wounder. This government wants another attack so bad that it wants POWER over other nations, and it will do anything just to get what they want. "OIL" Allan.

Why do the authorities even act like pictures of basic infrastructure are dangerous? I could go find about 20 pictures of anything I want on the internet already, and so could someone who wanted to "scope it out." What danger could a picture of a plane, train, emergency vehicle, or building cause?

I don't think it is dangerous. Here's my take on it. I've known the same Amtrak agent for something like 15 years. He suddenly goes after a person, ticketed or not who is taking pictures of the city owned station. He tells him he has to have "prior approval from Amtrak to take pictures as it's their property and any royalties made from pictures, movies etc." He is stating that Amtrak wants to know who may be 'profiting' from any photography. It's silly and makes them do a job in an aggressive manner while neglecting the real importance which is whether people will ride Amtrak again based on on-board service and reliability. He backs off and they stop taking pictures but he didn't go after their repeat business in the same aggressive way. See what I mean, it's an easy job to go out and act tough but soliciting new or repeat customers or making the atmosphere more friendly for business is somehow soooo difficult.

I've been riding Amtrak for years and think it's a great way to travel but the topics and manner in which they cherry pick their duties while letting the reservation system and on board service along with the FU attitude I have seen in the diner and in the first-class cars has gotten worse. I think the micro managing of 'citizens' is easier than focusing on revenue. I've been to Penn Station and didn't take any pics, stepped off the Silver Star in Dee Cee and had no problems with video shooting on the platform. It depends on how much time they have to kill that day IMO.

Well, the fear factor has certainly been there and it seems all for naught. I've seen a lot more people with a hard on to chase you off publicly owned property and somehow taking pictures of YOU is ok but try to take a picture of them. uh uhhnn. A friend of mine was at LA Union Station taking pictures and 4 , yes 4 LA Co Sheriff''s , 2 on foot 2 on Segway's LOL came up to him and asked him what he was taking pictures of. They then asked for his media card and he said NO! "My pictures are intellectual property and it's 10$ per image" They asked some more questions and left. Keep a copy of the photographers rights on your person.
