City of Jackson is fully moved to MSWIN...only Jatran still uses old system and only because they didn't want to buy new radios for the buses.
Ahh didn't know DPW etc moved over... TY. Missed the update to the DB with the TG's.

Thoughts/knowledge on what that route is?
I've had one source tell me L3/Harris 800 Phase-2 and the deal was inked; another one told me that was still in the works and there was a hold-up since MSWIN is deploying at least one new site into Biloxi in the next few months.

ETA- I should qualify that. One source works directly for the WCC; the other is with a different agency. By "deploy" I mean build out a site. I was told there are six additional sites coming online, Biloxi, PRC and a few more up north near Meridian, etc.

I am stoked either way since we use MSWIN and, since I'm primarily based in Harrison County, I also have to carry a Harris XG-75 portable...Either solution allows us to simply program the Harrison County users in, either as another system or additional MSWIN TGIDs, thus freeing up my cluttered vehicle and tac vest.

I'm hoping for it as well, this way I can upgrade my feed (Broadcastify) and get better quality. I have great stability with Lamar and Forrest County as a provider; but not so much with Harrison County; as there are inherent issues with EDACS/Provoice decoding (I do all of it with computer and remotely at that). I monitor as I have family who works and uses that system down there and I live in Lamar County.

I am on the other side of the issue. I hate to see them abandon the EDACS system, I worry that we will see more encryption if they do.

FWIW, someone who's 9 out of 10 times correct on things was telling me 100% "E" for both Gulfport and Biloxi. IDK about any other agencies. Won't know til it happens.

If so what are they hiding from or who?
A system that's solely in the planning stages and, from our end, based on RUMINT, is indicative that an agency is "hiding" something?

Maybe you should ask why Chevron over in 'Goula is entirely running AES-256? Why is Huntington Ingalls security running enhanced privacy on their Cap+ system?

Are you using SDRtrunk or DSD+? Because I used DSD+ many years ago before scanners started offering it and it sucked trying to decode provoice traffic. But the current Uniden offerings with provoice sound fantastic. I realize you not wanting to spend 395 bucks on a scanner but it would seriously improve your issues by 100%. If/when they finally drop EDACS you can pretty much be assured that the departments with money are going to go "E" then you won't have a reason to provide a feed. Harrison 911 commision has always viewed the scanning community in a negative way.

So some of y'all are more worried about them staying on the system that is ailing and unreliable so you can hear them versus moving to a more reliable, safer for the end user because they "might" use encryption? Kinda selfish.....js.

Perhaps, but I am a scanner listener, not a first responder (not anymore) so that is my main interest/concern. I have been listening to this system for 3 years and have not heard anything indicating there are any issues with it.,

Discontinued, no future support, no more spare parts... But okay, nothing wrong with it.

I was an EDACS system user for years (Abilene Texas) I hated when we scrapped it for P25. The EDACS system had worked flawlessly for years, but I understand the EOL of EDACS and the perceived need for the change. Still hated it. We had far more problems with P25 than we ever did with EDACS/ProVoice.

I've found a lot of dead spots with the EDACS system, and thankfully the dropped control channel from a few weeks ago seems to have been resolved.

For several years now I've never had any issues monitoring it, never heard units or dispatchers to repeatedly ask them to 10-9 or come back and say you were unreadable. It's 10 times better than the system that Jackson County is using. Now that's an unreliable and ailing system.
