Past couple trips out here to the cape to visit family I have heard what sounds like digital transmissions listed on the RR database as Harwich FD 800 simulcast channel. Can anyone confirm if this is digital ? It sounds like it’s P25 but the license data from RR and the FCC claim the emission is analog voice? I’m using a unication G4 which is 700/800 so that’s why I added it to the scan list. Anyways I was just wondering if infact it was digital.

That freq is also used by the P25 MassPort system at Logan. I wouldn't be surprised that the G4 would occasionally pick it up from the Cape, especially this time of the year with band openings.

Would this still interfere even with a DPL applied? As the G4 does use DPL and PL codes

Yea that’s what I figured , and if it is digital then that uses it’s own digital squelch (NAC , or DMR CC not that a FD would use DMR but you would be surprised ) I just thought it was strange because it has the digital sound to it and I’ve heard it on more than one occasion on different trips. I wonder if it’s data over the air for box alarms? Like a king fisher fire alarm system freq but wouldn’t that cause it to be a different emission type on the FCC license?

Yes this is separate from the trunk system this says FD 800 Simulcast in the DB and the emission ID lists it as Analog Voice

The information that is in the RR database is incorrect. That is one frequency of a Capacity Plus DMR system that is used by the town of Harwich. That said I don't know if the FD has a talkgroup on there; it is relatively low power apparently and difficult to receive from my location on the other side of the cape.

Edit: I removed it from the database.

That solves it and would explain the digital sounding transmissions I’ll remove it from the scan list. I appreciate the knowledgeable response thanks.
