• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

    If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

    To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am trying to program a Boefeng handheld using the latest CHIRP software, and I am having trouble getting the transmit frequencies correct. Receiving is fine.

The only info I have on the two frequencies I am trying to program are:

442.875MHz DCS 411
444.200MHz Tone 127.3

These are both local repeaters.

I think something is wrong in some of the CHIRP columns and I'm not able to get the repeater to pick me up. How would it be setup in CHIRP?

Thanks in advance.

So.....are you having actual software issues or just dont have the offset programmed??

You have to have the offset and tone programmed for the repeater

Your problem is you only have 2 of the 3 data points needed to use a repeater.

1. Output frequency. You have this.

2. Input frequency. This may be given as an actual frequency, or as an offset from the output frequency. You don't have this. If it's not given, it's assumed you know the band plan for your area, which would specify whether the input is above or below the output, and how far. IIRC, the most common offset for UHF repeaters is 5 MHz, so you may want to try specifying an offset of + or - 5MHz.

3. CTCSS Tone / DCS Code. You have this.

Good luck.

Just wondering. ...are you a licensed ham? If not you shouldn't be worried about hittkng repeaters. If you are licensed I dont know how you dont understand duplex operation.

And cabletech....chirp software does work with the Baofengs.

Plus, chirp software does not work with that radio. You need the correct software for the @#$%^ Bofang

Says the guy who can't even spell "Baofeng" correctly. CHIRP has supported Baofeng radios for quite a while now. You might want to start checking your facts before posting.

Visit the Miklor website for CHIRP examples.

But quickly...

Repeater #1
Frequency = 442.875
Tone Mode = Cross
Cross Mode = DTCS->
DTCS Code = 411
Duplex = +
Offset = 5.00000

Repeater #2
Frequency = 444.200
Tone Mode = Tone
Tone = 127.3
Duplex = +
Offset = 5.00000
