• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Been trying to find a Havis bracket for the KCH-20R head and every place I've checked is out of stock...backordered for at least a month...even if it says "in stock" on the product page on their site. Anybody know of any less popular Havis retailers that would likely have stock? Or am I just stuck until supply catches up with demand?

I may have one for an install that's not going to happen until the end of March, but I won't be able to check until Tuesday when we are back in the office.

OK cool. Well, let me know when you get to check...I'm going to keep looking but so far I keep striking out. It's just for my personal install but still...it's what's holding me up since I don't want to do it until I have the bracket in hand.

Hate to say it but if @RRSINC doesn't have what you need you may be waiting awhile. We bought a new vehicle at work last year and it took a couple of months for the proper Havis mounting brackets to arrive. From what our vendors have told us, the situation hasn't gotten any better since then. You might want to order what you need now to get it in the pipeline just in case; if @RRSINC fixes you up you can cancel the order, if not you'll already be on the list.

I deal with Havis almost on a daily basis sometimes for work and the less volume faceplates/mounting brackets are about a 4 week lead time right now. More popular items 2 to 3 weeks.

Good point. What shop is he with? I'm guessing RRS or that's the initials...

I don't know if you want to change it up, but I do believe the Troy Faceplate is the same style and size as the Havis, but it does have a different finish on it.

Good to know! I potentially have a line on one but waiting until tomorrow to find out for sure.

I was under the impression that while Havis and Troy faceplates are similar, the hole pattern is different.

Yes, that is correct. Havis consoles use a slotted rail for screws and Troy consoles use predrilled holes. Essentially, you can use a Troy faceplate on a havis console but not a havis faceplate on a Troy console.
