Thanks much for the info on the Hawaii County network. Do you have System ID and WACN info for Hawaii County? I'm curious why they did not migrate to 700/800 MHZ (thought was a Federal mandate)?

On another note, do you have additional talk groups for Maui Phase 2 than what's listed in the RR database? I'm heading to Maui in about a week for about 5 days. I have a Whistler TRX-1 that I'm planning on using.

According to the RR database, the System ID = 855 and the WACN = BEE00. I can confirm this via Unitrunker and Pro96Com also.

As for Maui County PD, I've also heard talk groups 5110 and 5120 in addition to the two listed in the database. 5110 seems to be the most active. I'm not familiar with Maui at all, so I'm not quite sure of the the exact areas those talkgroups cover.

I think my answer was fairly clear, I'm just telling you my experience so far in the past week. I'm not going to give you a flat out Yes/No, because I don't know what their plans are for the future. I'm just telling you that so far I have not heard any encryption.

It's been so long since I had to program my BCD 396XT I had lost my PC cable so re-ordered and just finished programing the scanner this morning. Looks to be a lot of dead spots especially in the Pohakuloa area for fire and police. I am currently monitoring to see what TGs are broadcasting. Other than Pohakuloa TGs I have heard Medic 9 talking on the Hilo med group fairly clear, which brings up the question: Is the Hilo med TG digital?

The Hawaii County system is P25 phase 2, the 396XT is phase 1. Pohakuloa is phase 1. The state medicom system is still analog on 453.4, however the license was updated to add P25 phase 1. HIRIN is also phase 1.

Thank you. So I guess my BCD396XT is basically a paperweight and incapable of receiving P25 Phase II spectrum. Oh well, might be able to use on the mainland if I run across Phase I systems.

I just talked to a ranking Officer with Hawaii County Police who indicated that Police/Fire Transmissions on the Big Island of Hawaii are encrypted. I haven't been able to confirm that however. Anyone with any information to clarify this woul be appreciated

Fire control has been dispatching on TG 6505. Looks like they are patching 6502 and 6503 into 6505 during the tone out. I will submit 6505 to the database.
