Nobody transmitting on 2 way radios is using stereo.

Jack is stereo (but both sides are being fed the same signal). Do not plug in a mono jack, it will short out 1/2 the output amplifier.

The audio itself is mono (single channel), however the headphone jack itself on Uniden scanners is almost always stereo (two channel), as far as the physical configuration.

how can you tell if the jack is mono? I mean the speakers I am using are uniden bearcat speakers and the only other place I plug it into is the car aux jack.

I am assuming most now are stereo?

A stereo jack has three separate metal areas (tip, ring, base). A mono jack has two separate metal areas (tip, base).

Normal earbuds for pocket radios have a stereo jack. Should look like that.

Is this different from the 436? I have a Bluetooth transmitter and speaker that works on my 436 but not on my SDS.

No. However, anything plugged into the headphone jack on any of our scanners need to have an impedance of 4-32 Ohms to reliably operate. Some BT adapters, NC headsets, etc, have impedance as high as 1k Ohm and won't work (or won't consistently work across devices).

Mine does. Works on both. Make sure the volume is up on the SDS100. Check with a wired connection
