I purchased the pro-162 and took it to radio shack. They hooked it up to their computer and programmed it for me! However, Its not picking up the 800's.. It does the 100's but not the 800's.

The 800's are in bank three:

BANK 3:

CH0: 866.20000
CH1: 866.75000
CH2: 867.45000
CH3: 868.13750
CH4: 868.68750

I dont know what Talk Group ID's are. I do know my county runs off of EDACS.

Here is the talk group ID I want to listen to:

DEC AFS Mode Alpha Tag Description Tag
273 02-021 A WCP DISP Washington Court House Police Dispatch Law Dispatch

Can you please help me program this scanner so I can listen to it!

The first problem I see is that in an EDACS system channel 0 (zero) can not be used. The freqs. must start in channel 1. AND all freqs. must be in the correct LCN (Logical Channel Number). In many cases they are also in numerical order, but not necessarily. They could be 1, 2, 7, 9, 10, 14 etc. In the RR database, the LCN is specified by the small number in front of each freq.
Talk Groups can be either DEC or AFS. As I understand it, in the AFS mode, using your example, you will hear all TGs that are in the 02 group. In DEC mode you will hear only TG 273.

As Dick said, EDACS systems have to start at channel 01, not 00. 00 should be left blank. Your bank should look like this for that system:

CH00: 0.0000
CH01: 866.2000
CH02: 866.7500
CH03: 867.4500
CH04: 868.1375
CH05: 868.6875

Refer to page 53 of the manual for how to manually program TGID's. Once you have the TGID's you want to monitor programmed (02-021 in this case), put that bank into Close Mode - so you don't hear any other activity. Refer to the bottom of page 49 for that function.

In the future, it would be helpful if you specified exactly what system/county/state you're trying to listen to so you can get more specific help. There are thousands of systems out there that have different settings in many cases.
